Thomas Hightower was born in Hartford, Connecticut and this is his story: He is the third born
of four children. His father was absent from his life and his mother a single mother for most of
his childhood.
When Thomas was 12 years old he had big dreams of leaving Connecticut and being the first
person from his family to graduate from a University. His goal was to achieve a Track or
Basketball scholarship from a division one university and compete on the big stage of athletics.
After being told time and time again that he just wasn’t smart or fast enough for a division one
college, he dedicated his childhood to proving everyone wrong.
Summarizing his life in words, these are the words and concepts he deals with the most in life.
Adversity, Success, Transformation, Communication, Love, Forgiveness, and Never Giving Up.
The strongest most influential word to characterize him would be Transformation. Growing up
Bi Racial from a small town in Connecticut and being treated different because his ethnicity in
predominate Caucasian environment. He learned how to succeed going against all odds. Not
allowing naysayers to influence his ultimate dream of getting out of Connecticut and achieving
the impossible.
Many times, people allow others to dictate their future with opinions and self-fear. How can a
person who is born into adversity, single mom, not knowing his father, being biracial, and
hearing you can’t everyday succeed? What must happen to win?
How can a person generate hope? What kind of drive can illuminate this desire? Can people
truly construct their own destiny? If a person does not have the WILL or commitment to
succeed how can they achieve it? How can a person seek successful abundance? What must
they acquire to achieve this level of accomplishment?
Thomas promotes and teaches the following:
1. Encourage people to focus on their dream.
2. Encourage people to embrace adversity/learn commitment/how to continue to grow.
3. Teach people how to turn a negative into a positive to produce successful results
